2020 Award Nominee

About The Artist

Located in Surrey

Linda Szentes and Jazzlinks is a jazz combo made up of friends who are also accomplished, improvising musicians: Linda Szentes, band leader/arranger and vocalist, Brenda Baird/Roy Sluyter, piano, Michael Toth, guitar, Johan Worst, bass, and Zoltan Kollar, drums.

Linda is an accomplished, versatile singer in many genres who has loved and listened to jazz throughout her life; she started studying in earnest with Bob Murphy, the great Canadian jazz pianist, in 2013. Linda is a musician and a singer: combined with her lyrical, flexible voice and consistent swing feel, she is a natural improviser. She also composes tunes and arranges tunes for the band; new tunes can be heard at UCOL’s (United Churches of Langley) Online Jazz Vespers on Nov 15, 2020. During Covid, Linda and her band have kept rehearsing and produced two very successful Livestreams in the summer, one of which was generously sponsored by the Abbotsford Arts Council (Aug 8).

Linda works as a church musician at United Churches of Langley (keyboard/voice) and curates the Jazz Vespers at her church.
