Keen appreciation for melody and melancholy is The Sylvia Platters’ stock in trade. Described by Rosy Overdrive as “one of the best guitar pop bands going,” the Lower Mainland outfit has been crafting idiosyncratic jangle pop gems since 2014. Brotherly songwriting duo Nick and Tim Ubels’ knack for indelible lyrics and melodies is the bedrock of the band’s distinctive voice. Their 2024 Grey Lodge Records debut Vivian Elixir received international praise and peaked at #7 on the earshot! college and campus radio charts. Recently joined by longtime friends and new musical collaborators Kyle Schick and Ian Fildes, the group is preparing to release a new set of five songs: the next chapter in the band’s unfolding story.
