KD Surreal is a DIY recording project from the Fraser Valley, blending indie singer-songwriter craft with touches of drone and metal. In 2021, KD Surreal was nominated for Folk Artist of the Year at the Fraser Valley Music Awards. Since then, KD Surreal has circulated small-run USB “Mixtapes” – each one with an entirely different set of songs – and, more recently, put out the self-recorded “Footnotes to the Faultline” EP and the studio-recorded ”I Know You’ve Been Calling,” a ballad with a turn towards alt-country and fuller arrangements. KD Surreal’s music is indie folk with the window open on a foggy night – songs that stand half-submerged in the strange.
