About The Artist

Located in Langley BC

Gone Sugar Die is a synth-punk and dark indie-pop duo crafting emotionally charged songs that blur the line between heartbreak and euphoria. Combining shimmering synthesizers, driving rhythms, infectious hooks, and haunting melodies, the project channels the spirit of classic new wave while forging a sound that feels distinctly modern.

Formed by bassist Mike Hindert and multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, producer, and vocalist Patrick McWilliams, Gone Sugar Die was built on a shared passion for creating music where romance, nostalgia, and rebellion collide. While Hindert provides the band’s bass foundation, McWilliams performs and records virtually every other element of the band’s sound, including guitars, drums, synthesizers, piano, percussion, vocals, and additional instrumentation, while also serving as the project’s primary producer and engineer.

Drawing influence from artists such as The Cure, The Smiths, Depeche Mode, and Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, Gone Sugar Die creates cinematic soundscapes layered with raw emotion and undeniable energy. Their music balances dark atmospheres with memorable melodies, exploring themes of love, loss, longing, and self-discovery.

Since their debut release, Gone Sugar Die has built a growing catalog that spans synth-pop anthems, post-punk-inspired ballads, and energetic alternative tracks. Songs such as “Heartbreak Jewelry,” “Candy Is a Heartthrob,” “Love Isn’t Real,” and “Valentine” showcase the duo’s ability to transform deeply personal experiences into songs that resonate with listeners worldwide.

With McWilliams’ expansive multi-instrumental approach and production vision paired with Hindert’s distinctive bass work, Gone Sugar Die continues to carve out a unique place in the modern alternative music landscape—creating music for late-night drives, broken hearts, and anyone searching for beauty in the darkness.
