Who can submit?
Musicians who live and/or work and/or hail from the Fraser Valley
What do I submit?
In addition to all requested details on the submission form, your three songs can be links to any recorded music, live or otherwise, that you feel reflects you as an artist in the desired way for judges in each specific category/genre you’ve applied for. Please ensure you make separate submissions for each genre. Recordings do not have to be ‘new’, but if you’ve been nominated with the same recordings in previous years, you should expect that to be taken into consideration by the judges and potentially weighted against your scores.
In addition, there is a $5 fee per artist submission. This is payable either via the PayPal link found below or via mail to the address listed at www.CIVL.ca.
Note: Only one $5 fee required per artist for unlimited category submissions.
When can I submit?
Application will be open until June 15th at 11:59 pm.
When will I know if I’ve been accepted?
Nominees will be announced in July 2024.
The #DakotaLeslieMemorialFanVote will take place between the nomination announcement and the awards on July 18th at Jam in Jubilee, and a closing date for votes will be announced in July.
Why enter?
All nominees will be eligible for the fan vote and associated $10,170 in cash prizes; last year’s top 5 finalists each won over $500!
2024 Nominees will be added to the FVMA archive on the website where social media links and music will remain posted for years to come and they will automatically be awarded air space to be played on CIVL Radio 101.7!

Other Details
All applicants are asked to identify the most appropriate genre categories for their music. Due to changing numbers of submissions between one genre to another from year to year, some genres with lower numbers of submissions will be combined as appropriate.
In past years this has resulted in diverse Alternative, Loud, Punk/Metal, Country/Roots/Blues/Folk, or other combined categories as necessary in order to provide all artists the chance to be adjudicated, even in categories that don’t exclusively reflect their specific genre.
In working with the Fraser Valley Music Awards to ‘solve’ this problem, we encourage all artists to encourage other musicians in their genre to apply for FVMA’s.
This is also why we provide the opportunity for artists to apply in as many genres as may be appropriate, with only one nominal submission fee.
